1. Responsável pelo tratamento

Carsten Herziger, Areias de Pera 700A, 8365-201 Pêra, concelho de Silves, Portugal.
NIF 297662414 · kontakt@diralo.app · +351 933 917 633

Base legal: execução do contrato (art.

Stand: 15.

1. Verantwortlicher

NIF 297662414 · kontakt@diralo.app · +351 933 917 633

2. Welche Daten wir verarbeiten und wozu

Erzeugte ÜbersetzungenDasselbe nicht zweimal übersetzenArt. 6 Abs. 1 b
Gewählter NameAnzeigen, wer geschrieben hatArt. 6 Abs. 1 b

Zeichen- und TokenzahlKosten berechnenArt. 6 Abs. 1 f
Anmeldung für BenachrichtigungenÜber neue Nachrichten informierenArt. 6 Abs. 1 a (Einwilligung)

5. Wie lange

Nachrichten, Übersetzungen, Aufnahmen30 Tage, danach automatische Löschung
Kostenzählung (ohne Text)1 Jahr
Ungenutzte Benachrichtigungs-Anmeldungen6 Monate

6. Was in deinem Browser gespeichert wird

8. Deine Rechte

Privacy policy

Last updated: 15 September 2026 — the provider is established in Portugal; the Portuguese version is the binding one.

The essentials in three sentences. To translate, every message goes to our server and from there to Anthropic in the United States — there is no end-to-end encryption. Everything is deleted automatically after 30 days. We ask for no real name, no email and no phone number.

1. Controller

Carsten Herziger, Areias de Pera 700A, 8365-201 Pêra, municipality of Silves, Portugal.
NIF 297662414 · kontakt@diralo.app · +351 933 917 633

2. What we process and why

DataPurposeLegal basis (GDPR)
Message contentDeliver and translateArt. 6(1)(b) — contract
Generated translationsAvoid translating twiceArt. 6(1)(b)
Chosen nameShow who wroteArt. 6(1)(b)
Chat codeGroup the conversationArt. 6(1)(b)
Device identifierRecognise your own messagesArt. 6(1)(b)
Language and timestampTranslate and sortArt. 6(1)(b)
IP addressRate limiting, abuse preventionArt. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest
Character and token countsCost accountingArt. 6(1)(f)
Notification subscriptionAlert you to new messagesArt. 6(1)(a) — consent

The device identifier is a random number generated in your browser. It contains nothing about you and identifies you nowhere outside this service.

3. Transfer to the United States

To translate, the text of every message is sent to Anthropic PBC (San Francisco, USA). This is the most sensitive point in this policy, so plainly: the content of your messages leaves the European Union.

Anthropic processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement incorporating the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Under Anthropic's API terms, content is not used to train models.

Messages without a single letter — only emoji, numbers or punctuation — are never sent for translation.

4. Other recipients

  • Render Services, Inc. — server and database hosting, located in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — domain registration, DNS and forwarding of the contact address.
  • Google and Apple push services — only if you enable notifications. Content is transmitted encrypted; these services see the technical recipient, not the text.
  • Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) — only if you take out a paid membership. Payment happens on Stripe's own pages: your card details never touch Diralo. Stripe processes your email address, payment data, IP address and country, and may transfer them to Stripe, Inc. in the United States under standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and statutory invoice retention. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
On our side we store only the Stripe customer and subscription reference, the plan and its status — never card data.

5. How long

Messages, translations, recordings30 days, then deleted automatically
Cost accounting (no text)1 year
Unused notification subscriptions6 months
Data in your browserUntil you clear it

You can delete a message for everyone at any time: tap it and choose "Delete for everyone". Text, translations and recording are removed from the database; only the note that a message was there remains.

6. What is stored in your browser

Your chosen name, language and chat code, the device identifier, recently used emoji, the sound setting, and the list of messages you deleted for yourself only. None of it serves advertising or tracks you across other sites. If an access word is set, a technically necessary cookie is added that stores only a derived value — never the word itself.

7. No end-to-end encryption

Unlike WhatsApp or Signal, messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They cannot be: translating requires reading. Whoever runs the server has technical access to the content. Do not write anything in Diralo that you would not entrust to a third party.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise any of these, write to kontakt@diralo.app.

Because we collect no real name and no email, we may need the chat code and the approximate time in order to locate your messages at all.

You may also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: CNPD — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, www.cnpd.pt.

9. Changes

This policy may change when the service changes. The date at the top shows the version in force.
